Flint Knapping at Flag Fen

Reserve a space on one of the flint knapping courses and gain free entry to the Archaeology Festival on Saturday 19th July.
Will Lord a local flint knapper and prehistoric re-enactor will guide students through the basics. There are four workshops on offer. Places are restricted to 5 people and all students must be 12 years of age or over.
Workshop 1: Arrow Heads 10am - 11.15
Workshop 2 : Hand Axes 11.30 -12.45
Workshop 3: Arrow Heads 1.30 - 2.45
Workshop 4: Axe Heads 3.00 - 4.15pm
Workshops are £12 per person and the cost includes free entry to the site and our Archaeology Festival on the 19th July. To reserve your place please contact us by phone or email. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or Credit Card on the day.

Casting Workshop

Make your very own replica Bronze Age sword.
Discover the mystery and wonder of the transformation brought about by fire and the beauty of fluid metal. The workshop takes place in the tranquility of Flag Fen's unique reconstructed pre-historic landscape and settlement. Surrounded by archaeological evidence you will connect with the expeirences of our ancestors and rediscover their lost skill.
The weekend is run by Dave Chapman of the Bronze Age Foundry. Dave studied Fine Art at Oxford University and then learnt the arts of casting and sculpting in bronze. He runs Bronze Age Foundry and worked as a bronze casting expert for Time Team. Check out Daves website for further details at www.bronzeagefoundry.com
Day 1: Witness the ancient ritual of casting and begin to finish and haft your own weapon using a variety of techniques.
Day 2: Practice you craft within and without the Iron Age Roundhouse. Complete and dedicate your sword.
Cost £195 including materials, lunch (both days) and evening meal on Saturday.
